HBO Announces Season 2 Renewal for House of the Dragon

In a move that is sure to delight fans of the Game of Thrones universe, HBO has announced that its prequel series, House of the Dragon, has been renewed for a second season ahead of its season one premiere. The series, which chronicles the history of House Targaryen and the Dance of the Dragons, is set to debut on HBO Max on August 21, 2022.

"We are incredibly proud of what our showrunners, cast, and crew have accomplished with House of the Dragon," said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming. "Their dedication and passion for the material is evident in every frame, and we are thrilled to continue the story of House Targaryen with them for a second season."

House of the Dragon stars Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Emma D'Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, and Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower. The series is based on the book Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin, who serves as a co-executive producer on the show.
