The Baltimore Orioles have optioned right-handed pitcher (RHP) Reed Garrett to the Norfolk Tides, the team's Triple-A affiliate, it was announced today. Garrett was designated for assignment on May 9, 2023, to make room on the Orioles' 40-man roster for RHP Logan Gillaspie.
Garrett's Performance with the Orioles
In three appearances out of the bullpen for the Orioles this season, Garrett has allowed six runs on eight hits, including two home runs, in 3.1 innings pitched. He has struck out three batters and walked three.
Garrett's Prospects
Garrett, 26, was a Rule 5 draft pick by the Orioles from the Texas Rangers in December 2022. He has a career 4.26 ERA in 108.1 innings pitched in the minors, with 110 strikeouts and 49 walks.
Garrett will likely be used as a starter for the Tides. He has started 74 games in the minors, including 13 last season with the Rangers' Double-A affiliate.
