Celtics Take Early Lead in Series

Dallas' Luka Doncic Fouls Out Late in the Game

The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night. The Celtics took control of the game early and never looked back, leading by as many as 20 points in the second half.

Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Jaylen Brown added 24 points, and Marcus Smart contributed 18 points and 9 assists.

Luka Doncic was the leading scorer for the Mavericks with 20 points, but he was forced to leave the game with two minutes remaining after fouling out. Kristaps Porzingis added 19 points, and Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in 17 points.

The Celtics hit 15 three-pointers in the game, while the Mavericks made just 6. The Celtics also outrebounded the Mavericks 48-35.

The Celtics now have a 1-0 lead in the series. Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday night in Boston.
