Bundesliga side Bayer 04 Leverkusen sets the course for the future

Current sporting director Simon Rolfes moving to management position from July 1, 2022

Bundesliga club and Europa League participant Bayer 04 Leverkusen has extended sporting director Simon Rolfes' contract until 2028. Simon Rolfes has become sporting director of Bayer Leverkusen. From his appointment of Florian Wirtz to his signing of Xabi Alonso, the former German international has proven once again what a keen pair of eyes he has for new talent.

A stable leadership

Together with head coach Xabi Alonso, sporting director Simon Rolfes has established Bayer Leverkusen as a top team. Bayer Leverkusen is planning without a sporting director for the time being after Rudi Völler left the club. Simon Rolfes is succeeding former World Cup winner Völler as the club's sporting director.
