HAMILTON WINS MONACO GRAND PRIX, EXTENDS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD

Lewis Hamilton has won the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix, extending his lead in the Formula 1 World Championship standings. The Mercedes driver started from pole position and controlled the race from the front, despite a late safety car period.
Red Bull driver Sergio Perez finished second, with Ferrari's Carlos Sainz Jr. completing the podium. Max Verstappen, who started from third, finished fourth after a difficult race.
Hamilton's victory is his third in Monaco and his sixth of the season. The win moves him 15 points clear of Verstappen in the World Championship standings.
The race was incident-packed, with several safety car periods. The first came on lap 16 when Esteban Ocon crashed his Alpine at the Swimming Pool chicane. The second came on lap 37 when Mick Schumacher crashed his Haas at the same corner.
The safety car periods disrupted the race, but Hamilton was able to maintain his lead throughout. He crossed the line 3.2 seconds ahead of Perez, with Sainz a further 5.8 seconds behind.
Hamilton's victory is a major boost to his World Championship hopes. He now has a healthy lead over Verstappen, who has struggled for form in recent races.
